The City of Boston has declared a Snow Emergency and Parking Ban starting Thursday, January 2nd at noon. Boston Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 3rd.
Parking will be prohibited from snow emergency streets. In the North End, snow emergency streets are Hanover St., Cross St., Commercial St. and N.Washington St. Alternate parking lots are open for those with resident parking stickers including Downtown Crossing (Lafayette Garage) and Boston Common. (See list of alternative parking lots.)
On streets other than major arteries, parking within 20 feet of an intersection or further than one foot from the curb is prohibited, as this impedes access for both emergency vehicles and snow plows.

I noticed that the boston common lot is not posted anymore when I searched under the north end. It only references the Lafayette garage. Are north end parking sticker holders still allowed to park at the common garage or has this changed? We’ve parked there for the past couple years during storms. Either there was a change or the website isn’t accurate. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow..
I believe anyone with a Boston neighborhood resident sticker can park at any of the alternate garages. The Common garage is listed under other neighborhoods probably just based on distance. Let us know if you find out differently!

Is there trash pick up during this snow emergency? Thanks.
According to the city website, trash will be picked up though in the past there have been delays and problems on some streets that may not have been plowed yet.
