Here’s the scoop for 2013-2014 Morning Playgroup at the Nazzaro Center:
- Who: You and your infant(s) and/or toddler(s)
- What: Morning playgroup
- When: MONDAYS, Tuesdays, and Fridays, 9am-12:00pm
(Note – most folks don’t show until about 10:00 am – also note that another group uses the space at 12:05. Let’s make sure to be cleaned up and out before they come in.)
- Where: Nazzaro Center Gym, 30 N Bennet St, 3rd floor
- Why: To meet, greet and socialize
- Cost: $10/family/year – register at the front desk on the first floor.
A couple of notes:
Playgroup runs with school year, Sept – June roughly. If it’s nice out, stay outside – no one comes on nice days.
If you’re not familiar with the playgroup – don’t be intimidated. It’s a very informal thing – some moms, some dads, some grandparents, some nannies. Playgroup takes place in a gymnasium, and there’s a bunch of push/ride toys, tent like things, plastic kitchen pieces, etc. The space is great – and when the weather turns, it’s a must for staying sane.
There have been activities planned in the past – a toy and clothing drive, holiday parties, etc. If you have any ideas, don’t be afraid to step up and offer to coordinate something. There’s many to participate, and many to help pull it together. I’m happy to help in any way that makes sense.
As much as possible, NO STROLLERS IN THE GYM! Park strollers on the first floor near the main desk. Stroller access for the building is thru the courtyard on the Left side of the building – once inside, head thru a door towards the front of the building to get to the elevator. Drop the stroller on the 1st floor and head on up to the gym on the 3rd floor. If you have a sleeping baby, or another reason that you must take your stroller to the gym, please do it respectfully. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, respect this almost free resource.
Please don’t let your stroller, or whatever comes in with it trash the gym floor.
Toys are located in the stairwell on the third floor (stairwell is across the gym from the elevator).
We pull them out at the beginning, and put them away at the end. If you’ve got toys that you’re looking to donate, here’s a great place for them – anything is fine just as long as it fits in the storage area. If you have some extra cleaning wipes, bring them. It’s nice to have a few containers kicking around for wiping down toys as necessary.
In advance, thanks to everyone for keeping everything neat and clean.
We are not supposed to have food in the gym. The center has always been very kind, and very lenient – and they have looked the other way. With very few exceptions, we have done a great job at cleaning up after ourselves.
Let’s make sure that we can continue to bring snacks for our lil’ ones. Clean up after you and yours (remember that raisins, fruit snacks, and other such sticky stuff are hard to clean up once run over by a few toddlers)
Please keep each other out of a policing position and remind each other to be respectful of the food policy.
Feel free to pass this on to your friends – all are welcome.
That’s all I can think of for now – If you’ve got any thoughts or questions, just give me a shout, otherwise, see you soon!
Take care,
Becca
