2013 Schedule of Events
Thursday August 15th
6:00 PM – Opening Ceremonies: La Madonna Del Soccorso will leave her permanent chapel on Lewis St For a solemn Procession to the Christopher Columbus WaterFront Park for the Annual blessing of the Fishing Waters. Our procession is dedicated to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
7:30 PM – The Annual Italian American of the Year Award Ceremony & presentation will take place at the Waterfront Park. This year’s Recipient Mayor Thomas Menino.
9:00 PM – Main Stage – Boston’s own DooWop Acappella Group Street Magic
Friday August 16th
5PM – Music by DJ Sal Bartolo
7:30-8:30 PM – Music by the Frank Zarba Orchestra
9:00 – 10:30 PM – Franco Corso performing on our main stage considered by many as “The Voice of Romance” Accompanied by the Frank Zarba Orchestra
Saturday August 17th
2PM – 3 PM – NEMPAC will perform the history of the Madonna Del Soccorso. Performance by Beverly Richards Dance Studio
5:30 – 6 PM – Singer Lynda Rose takes the Mainstage
6PM – 7 PM – Music by DJ Sal Bartolo
7:30 – 8:45PM – The multi-talented vocal group Vinyl Groove will perform the best R&B dance hits from the 70’s
9:00 – 10:30 PM – RagDoll A tribute to Franki Valli and the Four Seasons will perform on the MainStage. Ragdoll has wowed audiences all over the country with their explosive sound and entertaining show – playing the very best of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons!
Sunday August 18th
10AM – Outdoor Solemn High Mass in honor of La Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca.
12:30PM – The Grand Procession of the statue of La Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca through the streets of the North End accompanied by Marching Bands and Floats.
1PM – 2PM – Children’s activities on the main stage
2PM – 4PM – Our Float will kick off Carnivale accompanied by performances by Dance Revolution Dance Studio
4 – 6:30 PM – Main Stage – Cooper St Gang will be performing
7:30PM – 10PM – Main Stage – Boston’s own DooWop Acappella Group Street Magic
8PM – The Famous Flight of the Angel! As the statue of the Madonna returns to North street for the finale of the day long procession she is greeted by a crowd of enthusiastic spectators, each waiting for the opportunity to witness the Famous Flight of the Angel.
Yankee Magazine calls it “truly one of Boston’s greatest treasures” and National Geographic say’s “It’s a spectacle NOT to be missed!’” As the angel ceremony is completed the spectators below are covered by a snowfall of confetti paper from the rooftops. This years Flying Angel is Victoria Bono, with side angels Serina D’Amico and Haley Graffeo Dufresne.
10:30PM – Closing Procession with the return of La Madonna Del Soccorso to her permanent chapel on Lewis St and Grand Raffle Drawing Grand Prize $2,500
