Obituary: Lucy Virgilio (DiOrio) of Boston’s North End

Virgilio – Lucy (DiOrio) of Boston’s North End passed away on Sunday July 28th, 2013.

Beloved wife of the late Angelo “Gabe the Painter” Virgilio.

Devoted mother of Donna Marie Virgilio, and Peter Virgilio and his girlfriend Elizabeth Treptow, all of Boston’s North End.

Dear sister of Gilda Bova of Revere, and the late Phyllis Rossi, Angelina Giannato, Mary Sperduto, Gennaro DiOrio, Michelina Costa and Frank DiOrio.

Also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Lucy’s life will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, North Square in Boston’s North End on Thursday August 1st at 10:30am.

Visiting hours prior to the Mass will be held in the Lower Church commencing at at 9:00am.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Lucy was born in Boston on April 13th,1925 to the late Germano and Estherina (Canale) DiOrio. She was a life long resident of Boston’s North End. Beside being a devoted housewife and raising her children, she also work in Boston Public Schools, as well as a seamstress, and at Manni’s Bakery in the North End. Above all she was the world’s greatest cook to her family and friends, and a devoted Christian to her God. Lucy went home to her God on Sunday evening to meet her beloved Angelo who passed away 11 months ago. May they now spend eternity together.

Services will conclude with Lucy being laid to rest in the Mausoleum in Holy Cross Cemetery with her beloved Angelo.
