Catholic TV will show two broadcasts of the film documentary, “Patron Saint: The Montefalcione Devotion to Saint Anthony” produced by North Ender Christian Guarino of MonteBoston13 Productions. The documentary will be shown on June 10, 2013 at 10:30 pm and June 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm.

The film tells the story of a community of immigrants and their continuing ties to their ancestral home. On the last Sunday of every August since 1688, citizens of Montefalcione, a small town near Naples, have honored their patron Saint Anthony of Padova. When Montefalcionesi immigrants to the United States settled in Boston’s North End, they continued the devotional tradition of their hometown.

On the final Sunday in August, despite the time difference, the communities in Boston and Montefalcione hold their grand finale, a procession of Saint Anthony, simultaneously.

A special screening was recently shown in Boston’s North End. See the photos.
