Obituary: Luigi “Dixie Lou” J. Visconti of the North End

Luigi “Dixie Lou” J. Visconti, 97 years of age, of Boston’s North End, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 surrounded by his family.

Cherished son of the late Agnese (Torchietti) and Angelo Visconti. Loving husband of Grace (Palazzolo) Visconti. Beloved father of Agnes Strazzullo and her husband Domenic and Maria Cronin and her husband Paul. Cherished grandfather of Domenic Strazzullo and his wife Ashlei, Louis Strazzullo and Megan and Matthew Cronin. Caring brother of Amelia Zara and the late Mary Visconti, Mafalda Reppucci, Carmine Visconti, Elvira LaPorta and Vincent Visconti. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Louie was a WWII Army medic. A recipient of an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Benedict for his long time service to Sacred Heart Church. He was an active member of many North End fraternal and charitable organizations especially St. Mark’s and Holy Name Society. Louie will be missed as a very kind man who generously extended his time and help to his family and neighbors.

Funeral from the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St. Boston, on Friday December 7 at 8:45AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 12 North Sq. Boston at 9:45AM. Family will be accepting visitors on Thursday from 4PM to 8PM. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery in Boston, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Louie’s name to St. John School, 9 Moon Street, Boston, MA 02113.
