Folks around Salem and Hull Streets have been putting up with a lot of noise, dust and inconvenience as the NStar construction project continues in the area. Despite repeated warnings to avoid work during the summer and fall tourist seasons along the Freedom Trail, that is exactly what has happened.
At the focal point is the Old North Church where Rev. Stephen Ayres specifically asked NStar NOT to dig the planned transformer hole out front during early October. So, of course, this was the week when the power company decided to do just that.
This week is the height of the leaf-peeping tourist period where over 2,000 tourists come through daily, the most of any time during the year. As seen in the photo, the swarm of daily visitors have quite an obstacle course to maneuver.
NSTAR very nicely moved their crew to another site this morning, thanks to your bringing attention to this matter. They’ll come back when it is a little quieter.
