Friends of the North End Parks Present at NEWRA

Friends of the North End Parks is a new group dedicated to beautifying and caring for the Greenway parks located in the North End. In the video presentation from this week’s NEWRA meeting, its officers and horticultural experts discussed plans for growing the membership, involving the public and beautifying the park parcels. Lavender plants were also handed out to all attendees!

A consortium of Greenway stakeholders are close to a long-term solution to solve the persistent Greenway funding question. A 10-year lease renewal to the non-profit Greenway Conservancy would include a significantly reduced State contribution, at a fraction of the $2 million current annual funding level, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. I am proud to be part of the North End Parks Group and look forward, to seeing a strong collaboration between the many committed groups that exist in the North End. Together we will do great things. Friends Groups provide a wonderful opportunity, to give back and become more invested in the area. Look forward to expanding my circle of friends.
