The Clean Streets Committee has been indefinitely disbanded, according to executives from the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association. The usual monthly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, 2012 has been canceled.
David Grant, the committee chair for the past year, has stepped down. NEWRA President Stephanie Hogue complimented Grant in a “galant effort” to launch the Spazzare! Clean-up campaign. Unfortunately, the decorated brooms were largely vandalized or stolen.
Since the end of Spazzare!, the meetings have not been productive and partnership efforts with City Hall have ceased as well. Grant took over the committee after a 2010 street sweeping controversy that also temporarily disbanded the group.
So ends another chapter for the Clean Streets Committee.
