There is no doubt about it, the North End is definitely not as safe as it use to be.
It seems like most of the people who live here have no respect for the neighborhood because
they are just passing thru & it is only a pit stop & move on.
Our streets are filthy, people put trash out whenever they want, dog crap is everywhere & we are dealing with more drug addicts & break-ins than ever before.
Another thing I don’t understand is how the Police have not come up with a fine for those that
drive around with their car radios full blast at all hours of the night into early morning and
wake up residents who have to go to work. Over 20 years ago my friend’s son got a
$50. ticket in Hyannis Center at 5 p.m. for having his car radio too loud. Why aren’t there
laws like this in the City of Boston? As long as there is no ENFORCEMENT there will never
be any peace in the Neighborhood. I see more cop cars during the day than at night.
These same problems have been around for far too many years & our cries seem to be falling
on deaf ears.
Marie, the NE is the cash cow for the city of Boston & that’s all they care about. I know that this comment will not sit well w/some people but with all due respect for the late Mayor Meninio and Marty Walsh & the former & current police commissioner the inner city [Dorchester, Roxbury & Mattapan] get the police presence .They could care less about the NE and it’s long suffering resident’s as long as the cash keeps rolling in.
FORMER NORTH ENDER, You are right on Target. The No. End is absolutely nothing but a
Cash Cow for the City of Boston. I realize that the Police have more problems in Dorchester,
Mattapan & Roxbury, which tells me they have to be short staffed & if this is the case, they
should definitely forget about hosting the 2024 OLYMPICS.
I really believe that if the No. End Tourism is bringing in this much Revenue, they should definitely
lower our taxes & stopping complaining about how they can’t afford SNOW REMOVAL. It’s
positively sickening to hear what the City can’t afford. The City is on an ALL TIME HIGH & THEY
CUT OUT ONE OF THE TRASH DAYS & SAVED MILLIONS.
Again, I will say, the No. End is like a PROSTITUTE & is up for grabs to the HIGHEST BIDDER.
We as tax payers should never have to be subjected to these Loud Car Radios during the
night & early morning & if the City wants to make even more money, LET THEM FINE THESE
MISFITS THAT ARE DISTURBING THE PEACE, LIKE THEY DID IN HYANNIS over 20 Years
ago. Where there is a Will there is a Way.
I agree totaley!!
