Video: NEMPAC’s Evening of Chamber Music at Old North Church – Part 2

Video: The final two parts of D. Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 4, Op. 83.
Composed in 1949, Shostakovich, a prolific Russian 20th Century composer, was influenced greatly by the Romantic Era, however, his music contains much chromaticism and atonality, which was characteristic in the 20th century.

It was “An Evening of Chamber Music” on March 23, 2012 as the North End Music & Performing Arts Center presented a string quartet concert at the Old North Church. NEMPAC performers included Sarah Glenn, Sam Stapleton, Alex Duval and Emma Stapleton, featuring the works of Beethoven and Shostakovich.

The Chamber Music performance is part of NEMPAC’s Winter Concert Series, organized by Sherri Snow. The events are free (suggested donation $15) and open to the public.  The next NEMPAC performance is on April 27, 2012, 7pm at the Old North Church, featuring “Jazz & Beyond.”
