News from the Horticulture folks at Friends of Christopher Columbus Park:
The Horticulture Volunteers will begin the gardening season on Wednesday, April 11th @ 6 p.m. and, weather permitting, meet for just 1 hour every Wednesday @ 6:00 pm and Sunday @ 9:30 am. Initial projects will include spring pruning of the Shrub roses as well as the center bed of Hybrid Tea and Floribunda roses. We will also be soil testing the Waterfront Crescent in preparation for replacement of the Coreopsis (small, yellow daisy) plants that have not thrived in their present location. We hope to improve the appearance of this area this season.
We always welcome new volunteers; look for us in the rose garden or near the tot-lot. FOCCP provides gloves and tools so you just need to wear clothes suitable for gardening and closed toed shoes. Returning Horticulture Volunteers will provide instruction and enthusiasm!
