Q: What is an ideal calorie distribution for physically active adults?

A: 65% of calories from carbohydrates or 6-10 grams / kilogram of body weight
15% of calories from protein or 1.2 – 1.7 grams / kilogram of body weight
20% of calories from fat or about 400 calories
(Based on a 2,000 calorie diet)

Q: I love taking yoga but I was wondering if yoga alone is enough to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

A: Yoga is a fantastic way to de-stress and to stretch your muscles, but there are a few other aspects of fitness that you are missing. Along with the yoga a regular strength training workout is recommended along with some cardio vascular exercise. Strength training not only strengthens and tones all your muscles and bones but also boosts your metabolism. In return your body will burn more calories throughout the day. While cardio vascular exercise will strengthen your heart and help to burn fat.
