Video: Introductory comments and committee reports from the March 12, 2012 meeting of the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council, NEWNC.
NEWNC President Donna Freni called the meeting to order, followed by a roll call and meeting protocol.
From the Office of State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, Blake Webber spoke briefly regarding the status of proposed legislation regarding the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy. Later in the video, NEWNC’s Greenway Committee Chair, Donna Freni, also spoke on the subject. (Referenced video on the Greenway hearing.)
The monthly public safety report was given by David Marx.
Bylaws Committee Chair, Ryan Kenny, noted that as of last month the revised NEWNC bylaws are posted on NEWNCBoston.org.
In addition, Councilor Kenny announced the upcoming details of the NEWNC election.
The annual NEWNC election is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2012, 10am – 2pm at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 N. Bennet St. Six of the twelve NEWNC seats are up for election. Nominations paper will be available April 20, 2012 at the front desk of the Nazzaro Community Center and must be returned by May 4, 2012 with 25 valid signatures. A Candidates Night is scheduled at the May 14, 2012 NEWNC meeting (Nazzaro Community Center, 7pm) prior to the election where all candidates are invited to speak to the public.
