Dear Friends:
Starting in the new year, work will be done to rehabilitate and replace parts of the sewer system that runs beneath Salem Street. This work is necessary to improve the efficiency of the pipes, some of which are in disrepair, and will unfortunately involve some inconvenience for residents.
The work will include the relining and relaying of the sewer lines for the length of Salem Street, from Cross Street to Charter Street, and will begin on Tuesday, January 3. From that day, work will be done Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though rain and snow events could require schedule changes.
The Boston Water and Sewer Commission has contracted with the D’Allessandro Corporation for this project and they, in turn, will have subcontractors performing some of the work. A BWSC inspector, Anthony Leone, will be on site as a direct contact. Any questions regarding the construction may be directed to the project engineer, Ernst Etheartat, at 617-989-7000, Information is also available at the website www.BWSC.org.
As always, if I can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Sincerely,
Salvatore LaMattina
District 1 City Councilor
