NEWRA Elects Officers at Annual Meeting; Stephanie Hogue Re-Elected President

The North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) re-elected Henchman Street resident, Stephanie Hogue, for a second term as President of the organization at this week’s Annual Meeting held on October 13, 2011.

Long-term NEWRA executive Victor Brogna is stepping down as Vice-President and the position is currently vacant. New to the executive ranks is Michael Giardiello, a Prince St. resident, who has volunteered to be Treasurer. Returning for a second term as Secretary is Prince St. resident, Nicole Rafter. Also, Jim Salini will serve a second year as Sergeant of Arms.

In other business, the group heard a presentation from the Boston Water & Sewer Commission regarding two upcoming projects in the North End. The Salem St. project of replacing and relining the sewers is now scheduled to begin in January 2012.

Phillip Consolo also presented his application for Hot Tomatoes, a take-out restaurant at 227 Hanover St., in the former location of LuLu’s and Lyndell’s bakeries. NEWRA supported the request in a vote of 29-1.
