Hearing Bells at Old South Meeting House

Church bells were ringing throughout the city today as the Old South Meeting House gets one of the 46 “Revere Bells.” The site where the Boston Tea Party was launched in 1773 will receive a bell made at Paul Revere’s foundry made in 1801. The house already houses an original 1766 clock but has not had a bell for over 150 years. The 876-pound bell was purchased from a church in Westborough that closed four years ago.

Bruce McCue catches the Mayor ringing the bell at today’s ceremony.
