Typical North End Summer Night with Jewish & Chinese Music (and a Visit from Santa)

As the photos show, it was a typical summer night on Wednesday, July 27th in the North End … Jewish music, Chinese folk dancing and a visit from Santa Claus! Well, let’s explain. The Saint Joseph Society hosted a Historic Unity Celebration on the Prado with an evening of performances by Jewish and Chinese groups. The event recognized various ethnic groups that immigrated to the North End at one point in time. The 86th Annual Saint Joseph Feast kicks off on Friday, July 29, 2011.

In another part of the neighborhood, over at the Gassy, ROC Teen Saturday’s Steven Virgilio was throwing the annual Christmas in July party, complete with decorations, seasonal music, a Christmas movie and a visit by Santa Claus.
