The North End Athletic Association capped off a successful season with the 2011 Youth Major League Baseball All-Star game on Saturday, June 25, 2011. The video above shows the pre-game music, food and festivities along with the team announcements and first pitches. This year, the teams were named the Mikey “Fud” Giannasoli All-Stars versus the Robert “Bobby D” DeCristoforo All-Stars.
In the regular season, the NEAA Majors Baseball Championship was won by the Red Sox after beating the Cubs. The Red Sox had a 9-1 winning record during the season. (More at the NEAA website.)
The 2nd annual North 2 South Baseball Classic was also held this week, sponsored by State Representative Aaron Michlewitz. The 2-game series pits the North End all-stars against the South End all-star team with a game in each neighborhood. This year, the North End game ended in a tie while the South Enders won their home game, giving them the series win.
