Potatoes Dug Up at the North End Branch Library

The Friends of the North End Branch Library’s gardening committee found these relatively large potatoes growing in the library garden while planting some flowers!

How did it happen?  They did not plant them!  A mystery for sure.

Someone has already taken one potato home for dinner!

Don’t miss the book sale on Saturday, May 21st, 10am-3pm, at the library on 25 Parmenter Street.

  1. You should have left them! Potato plants are actually quite lovely when they bloom.

    Also, fwiw, if they were not just placed there earlier this year (ie are from previous years growth), then you almost certainly have not found them all – a healthy potato plant will produce as many as a couple dozen spuds.
