The Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel presented two requests this week to the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) with a split result.
- NEWNC voted to support the Fairmont’s application to extend its existing alcohol license to accommodate a one-hour later closing hour on its outdoor patio from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m, 7-days per week. The Fairmont’s existing indoor closing hour is 2:00 a.m. The vote to extend garnered 4 council votes in support and 2 in opposition.
- NEWNC voted unanimiously to oppose the Fairmont’s request for a new entertainment license to include live outdoor entertainment until 9:00 p.m. and recorded outdoor entertainment until 11:00 p.m., 7-days per week.
The video below shows the presentation by Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel General Manager Matthew Sterne and Attorney Dennis Quilty, along with council deliberations and public comment.
The Residents’ Association (NEWRA) will hear these requests on May 24 at their ZLC Committee meeting, 7pm at the Pilot House (Lewis Wharf) and June 9 at their regular monthly meeting, 7pm, Nazzaro Center. NEWNC and NEWRA votes are advisory to city officials. The Fairmont Hotel indicated they will appear before the Boston Licensing Board and Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing during June 2011.
