North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) Elections on Saturday, May 14, 2011

The North End Waterfront Neighborhood Council’s 2011 Elections will be held on Saturday, May 14th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet Street.

 

Nomination papers will be available to potential candidates beginning Monday night April 11th at 7 p.m. at the Nazzaro Center.  Nomination papers must be returned to the Nazzaro Center by Friday May 6th at 5:00 p.m.

 

All candidates must be residents of the North End/Waterfront community who are 18 years or older as of May 19th.

 

A resident of North End/Waterfront community is  anyone who appears on the City of Boston’s most recent census list or anyone who does not appear on the most recent census list but can produce adequate proof of residency. At a minimum, individuals who do not appear on the most recent census must produce at least one form of  identification with a photograph, address within the North End/Waterfront community, and date of birth (unless age is not a question).  Election officers at the polling location shall decide the sufficiency of the proof of residency.

 

What is Included in the North End/Waterfront Community?

The area within Precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Ward 3 and the Waterfront Area’s Precinct 6 (Harbor Towers and Rowes Wharf).

 

When nominations are closed, the ballot is prepared. Order on how many names will appear on the ballot and what order they appear is done by random drawing at our May meeting. 

 

A Candidates’ Night will also be held at our May meeting on May 9th at the Nazzaro Center (7 p.m.).

The election will be for six of the twelve council seats, each with a two-year term. Sitting members up for re-election, should they choose to run again, include: Jon Sproul, Dave Marx, Luciana Burdi, Jorge Mendoza and Stephen Passacantilli. The seat formerly held by the late Bobby DeCristoforo is also open for election. 

 

All North End / Waterfront residents may vote in these elections. This includes the area within Precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Ward 3 and Harbor Towers/Rowes Wharf in Precinct 6. Click to view the North End / Waterfront voting precinct map.
