Councilor Felix Arroyo at NEWRA’s February 10, 2011 meeting. Standing in back is Stuart Rosenberg, Arroyo’s Chief of Staff.City Councilor At-Large, Felix Arroyo, spoke to residents at this week’s meeting of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) regarding his work and priorities during his first term in office. The Councilor addressed the issues of youth affairs (summer jobs), keeping library branches open, negotiating the firefighters contract, his “Invest in Boston” initiative and advocacy for asthmatics. Councilor Arroyo and fellow asthmatic, Councilor LaMattina, have created an asthma task force and filed for a hearing to ban on smoking in parks and public spaces. (See Councilor Arroyo’s blog for more details on these issues.)

North End residents peppered the Councilor with questions regarding late-night noise and licensing issues. Councilor Arroyo recently sent a letter to the Governor supporting a “neighborhood-friendly” appointment to the open spot on the three-person Boston Licensing Board.

NEWRA members thanked Councilor Arroyo for speaking and recognized Stuart Rosenberg, his Chief of Staff, for regularly attending NEWRA meetings on behalf of the councilor.
