North End Post 144, Veterans of Foreign Wars, held its annual Charitable Endowment Night on October 21, 2010 at the Nazzaro Center. Post 144 presented donations to the North End Athletic Association (NEAA), North End Against Drugs (NEAD), Nazzaro Center, North End Community Health Clinic, Casa Monte Cassino, New England Homeless Veterans Shelter, the Saint Agrippina Toys Program, the Maddonna Della Cava Halloween Parade, the Department of Massachusetts State Commander (VFW) for his “Unmet Needs” Project for Military Families, and a few other charities. In total, $9,500 was donated by VFW Post 144.
It was a historic night as several North End World War II VFW Members were decorated with their 65 and 70 year “Life Member” pins. Other members were also decorated for their years of service. State Representative Aaron Michlewitz also presented special service commendations.
