When the haz-mat trucks were re-routed to Commercial St. last week, a North End resident pushed the walk button on the corner of Foster and Commercial Street only to find a J.P. Noonan gas tanker truck barrel right through the red light. He captured the video clip below. You can also hear the audible chirp for the visually impaired on the video.
Community leaders are in the process of setting up a meeting (tentatively Wed., June 2nd) with officials on the haz-mat truck ban and re-routing to Commercial Street. This week, the City received a 45-day extension so the trucks are banned during the day and otherwise routed through Cross Street. Stay tuned to NorthEndWaterfront.com for more information on the upcoming meetings/hearings on this issue.
