The North End Friends of St. Francis House held their 6th annual Bake Sale and Flea Market over the past two days at the Nazzaro Center. Early tallies indicate the fund raiser will exceed the $16,000+ raised last year. The Nazzaro Center was overflowing with neighborhood donations of all types of flea market items. Plus, there was plenty of homemade baked goods and pastries from all of the bakeries and pastry shops in the neighborhood. As usual, Mary Romano’s delicious sandwiches were a favorite. (Ed: I can personally attest to the delicious part).
The flea market items easily filled all the tables in the Nazzaro Center and many left cash and check donations as well. All of the proceeds from the two day event were matched by an anonymous donor to be donated to the homeless shelter, St. Francis House.
