Boston Police tweeted a bomb threat at 57 Fulton Street this morning. Residents on the block were evacuated around 10am this morning due to a phony bomb in an unoccupied apartment. The bomb squad detonated it “to be on the safe side” which apparently was not a real bomb. According to a BostonChannel.com article, the bomb squad used a water cannon to destroy the material that looked like a pipe bomb.
It was not clear how police were notified of the bomb, but a spokesman said they have had other problems at the address in the past. Police radio also had chatter about grenades, but none were found. By 2pm, the street was open again.
