The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) had their July meeting this week, led by President, Joanne Hayes-Rines. Fundraising Chair, Anne Devln Tagliaferro, announced that the annual fundraising gala will be held on November 13, 2009 at the Long Wharf Marriott. The event was at the Intercontinental last year, but holding it at the Marriott will allow for more funds to be raised for the park.
The gala event is 7:00-11:00 pm and will be expanded to both the Palm & Main Ballroom with entertainment by Stardust. After a discussion regarding raising the admission price, the $100 per ticket fee will likely be maintained. It was noted that tickets alone do not cover the cost of the event, so the organization relies on sponsorships to raise money.
