and its own Cinderella story!

The North End Music and Performing Arts Center will be celebrating their Cinderella story transformation, hosting a 15th Anniversary Celebration Friday September 23rd at the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel in Boston. Created by a group of mothers seeking local music classes for their children in 2001, NEMPAC began as a fledgling nonprofit by securing the former public washroom on Paul Revere Mall as a location for music lessons.

Wednesday, September 21st is the last day to purchase tickets ($125/person).

NEMPAC has blossomed into a vital community resource and has transformed the tiny brick facility into a thriving music school. Music wafts from the four music studios onto “The Prado”, where community members and tourists alike enjoy hearing the students at piano, violin, voice, yoga, and more from talented professional musicians. From its humble start, NEMPAC now provides arts programming to over 1,000 youth and adults weekly in school and out of school and delivers over 28 concerts and community events to the neighborhood and greater Boston community. Partnerships have expanded beyond local North End schools, to Charlestown and downtown Boston.

To celebrate their exciting Cinderella story of providing 15 years of arts, music and cultural programming in the North End / Waterfront community, NEMPAC invites friends and neighbors to join them on Friday, September 23rd. The special evening at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf Hotel will be held from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm and will include a cocktail hour, dinner, dessert buffet, special performances, live auction items, entertainment and dancing.

The event, co-chaired by NEMPAC Board President Dianne Royle and Vice President Richard Vita, will honor Mayor Martin J. Walsh as Guest of Honor for his commitment and dedication to the arts in our City of Boston. State Senator Joseph Boncore, State Representative Aaron Michlewitz and City Councilor Salvatore LaMattina serve as Honorary co-chairs for the evening.

Attorney Richard J. Vita, NEMPAC Vice-President and Event Co-Chair, states” This Anniversary Celebration trumpets the milestone achieved by NEMPAC of fifteen years of success in delivering excellent public and private music instruction to the children of the North End /Waterfront and surrounding communities’”. Vita added “Additionally, NEMPAC has provided free of charge to local residents many free artistic and exciting performances and concerts throughout the year. “

World-renowned pianist and Steinway Artist Meng-Chieh Lui, will be the featured Guest Artist for the evening. Liu is a faculty member at the New England Conservatory and Curtis Institute of Music. He will share his inspiring artistic journey a performer and his aspirations for supporting community music organizations like NEMPAC. A full program of musical events designed by artistic director by Christina Wright-Ivanova, will follow, highlighting many of NEMPAC’s talented musicians and faculty members.

  1. As a former President of NEMPAC, I ask that all members of the community support this wonderful evening to commemorate the 15th anniversary of this fantastic organization. Music brings joy to all corners of our neighborhood and NEMPAC helps nurture it in all of us! I am proud to be an alumnus of the Board of Directors and also a proud parent of a former student.

I wish NEMPAC continued success and look forward to seeing all my friends at the 15th Anniversary Gala.
