Operation Sail, Inc., (OpSail) the national non-profit organization that produces tall ship events commemorating patriotic American milestones, will sail into Boston from June 30 – July 5, 2012 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and The Star-Spangled Banner.
The City of Boston in cooperation with the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, National Park Service, Boston Harborfest and OpSail have announced the official event schedule for the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 commemoration. The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels flew over Boston today around 12:30 pm, taking off from Logan, circling over Boston Harbor and then over Downtown. There were two planes practicing for the 1812 Bicentennial celebration scheduled for next year’s Harborfest over the 4th of July weekend. (Click thumbnails to enlarge and start slideshow.)
