U.S. Senator Scott Brown helped kick off the 10th Year Anniversary Gala for the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park held this week at the Marriott Long Wharf. Neighbors and business owners came out in force to support one of the most successful “Friends” groups in Boston. Joining in the celebration were State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, State Senator Anthony Petruccelli, City Councilor Sal LaMattina and Boston Parks Commissioner Toni Pollack.
FOCCP is an all-volunteer group that puts up the blue trellis lights every year, cares for the Rose Kennedy rose garden, helps replace trees and sponsors events, such as the family-friendly Columbus Day celebration.
Cheers to Gala Chair, Anne Devlin Tagliaferro and FOCCP President, Joanne Hayes-Rines with their extensive volunteer committee for pulling off a successful event for hundreds of attendees. The annual gala makes up the bulk of FOCCP’s annual budget.
For the second year at the gala, Patron Spirits kept everyone in a lively mood with complementary drinks! Other named sponsors included Tia’s, Joe’s American Bar & Grill, Al Dente/Benevento’s/Boston Pushcart, CL Waterfront Properties, Mike’s Pastry and the Marriott Long Wharf. See their website for a full list of sponsors.
