After fifty years in business, Maria Merola has decided to retire and close Maria’s Pastry Shop at 46 Cross Street in the North End. On the shop’s last day in business, photographer Gerri Palladino stopped by to take some final photos of one of the staple pastry shops in the neighborhood.

Neighborhood Photo: Zeppole Heaven for St. Joseph’s Day
St. Joseph’s Day was this week, March 19th, bringing the seasonal offerings of zeppole, also known as sfinge, to the North End pastry shops.
