The Friends of the North End Branch Library visited Maria Merola on closing day at Maria’s Pastry Shop, 46 Cross Street in Boston’s North End. The Friends group gave her a gift card for I Am Books in appreciation for her generosity in supporting their events over the years. Maria is retiring after 50 years at the shop, a local favorite with authentic, homemade offerings.
