5:00PM Wharf District Public Realm Vision Video Charrette, New England Aquarium Learning Lab, Harbor Garage, 1st Floor on the waterside. The Public Realm Vision Video will illustrate a future for the Wharf District that encourages extraordinary possibilities and new opportunities, while fitting in and meeting neighborhood needs today. It will be aimed at decisions-makers, government officials and developers in determining the future of our neighborhood. Community input on content is encouraged.

7:00AM Bike to Work Day. Join Boston-area residents at City Hall Plaza to celebrate National Bike to Work Day. There will be free breakfast snacks and an expo on City Hall Plaza from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Registration is free and encouraged. 1:00PM Friday Films at the North End Library: Women’s Pictures: When Women Ruled the Movie Box Office. Join the North End Library in April and May for their Friday Films series: Women’s Pictures: When Women Ruled the Movie Box Office, curated and introduced by Professor Barry Marshall. 5:00PM NEMPAC Music Theatre Troupe present Once Upon a Mattress. Stop by the Improv Asylum for NEMPAC’s Music Theatre Troupe production of “Once Upon a Mattress” and watch it captivate students with the work of Rodgers & Hammerstein, by Mary Rodgers (music), Marshal Barer (lyrics), and Dean Fuller & Jay Thompson (book) specially adapted for young people to perform. or additional questions, please contact NEMPAC’s Educational Programs Director Manda S. Saturday, May 18

8:00AM Free Ferry Day. Celebrate the start of the 2019 ferry service to the Harbor Islands. Catch the ferry to either Spectacle or Georges Island right from downtown Boston’s Long Wharf North. The ticket window opens at 8 AM. On nice weather days, all free ferry tickets are distributed before 11 AM, with all of the departures listed below completely booked at that point, see additional details here.

10:00AM NEWNC Election at the Nazzaro Center. Stop by the Nazzaro Center for the annual election for the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) from 10am-2pm. All residents in Ward 3, Precincts 1-4, over 18 are eligible to vote.

10:00AM Free History Walking Tour. Join Scot Krueger of the Friends of the Boston Harborwalk at the Boston Harbor Hotel for a combination virtual and walking tour to examine the role that geology has played in the history of Boston, see additional details here.

10:30AM Lecture: From Clark’s Square to Methodist Alley: North End Church. Stop by the North End Library to hear the North End Historical Society president and local historian, Alex Goldfeld, give an illustrated presentation about Old North, New Brick, First Baptist, and many other houses of worship in the neighborhood. Other Boston churches, like the Manifesto Church and Old West, will be included for context and comparison, see additional details here.

10:30AM Piccoli Lettori – Italian reading group for little ones. Join I AM Books for its Italian reading group for little ones! Children (0-4) and their parents will engage in multiple readings and games for a fun morning of Italian language and learning.

1:00PM Meet Harriet, Daughter of Paul Revere. Diane Lent brings to life Harriet Revere, one of Paul Revere’s 16 children. Join her in reminiscing about her father’s dramatic life, the adventures of her many siblings, nieces, and nephews, and growing up in the historic North End at 19 North Square.
