Feast of San Gennaro Comes to Boston’s North End, Sept. 21-23
A new feast is coming to Boston’s North End … the Feast of San Gennaro will be held on September 21 through 23, 2018. Big name entertainment has been lined up including Jersey Boys, Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti, and the New York Bee Gees. Read more here.
Notice to Proceed Issued for North Washington Street Bridge Reconstruction
A formal Notice to Proceed (NTP) has been issued to MassDOT’s general contractor for the replacement of the North Washington Street Bridge Reconstruction Project as of August 2018. Construction will be underway starting in late summer/early fall 2018, through at least 2022. Read more from MassDot here.
North End’s Best Meatball Trophy Won by Tony & Elaine’s
The bites have been taken and the stomachs are full after the first annual “North End Best Meatball” competition held at last weekend’s Fisherman’s Feast. Hundreds of attendee votes brought the thirteen entrants down to five for the final round judged by local food celebrities. Read more here.
Boston Celebrates Immigrants in New Event Series
On a bright, beautiful morning Boston residents gathered at the Armenian Heritage Park for “Celebrating What Unites Us,” a program that celebrates immigrants and what they contribute to the city. This was the third event in an eight part series, with each event focusing on a different immigrant community. Read more here.
108th Annual Fisherman’s Feast [Photo Gallery]
Last weekend’s 108th Fisherman’s Feast continued the tradition of the North End’s oldest running Italian festival. The celebration honors Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca. Opening night featured the Blessing of the Fishing Waters and the feast ended with the famous aerial grand finale, Flight of the Angel. See photos here.
