BOND Honored for North Bennet Street School Project

BOND, the construction company for the new North Bennet Street School at 150 North Street, received the AGC Build New England Merit Award for its work on the NBSS relocation project. Completed in September 2013, the NBSS project involved the historic restoration and repurposing of two City of Boston buildings, including a former print shop and police station.

“We are honored to accept this AGC Build New England honor,” said Robert Murray, BOND President. “NBSS provides wonderful educational opportunities for its student body, and we are extremely proud to have been involved in this project.”

NBSS is the only institution in the United States with eight distinct full-time professional craft training programs, including carpentry, violin-making, and cabinet and furniture-making. The new building has 65,000 square feet serving as a the main facility for the longstanding trade and craft school.

This honor is one of several awards received by the project team for the NBSS project over the past year. Other awards NBSS has previously won include a Preservation Achievement Award from the Boston Preservation Alliance; the Massachusetts Historical Commission’s Preservation Award; and Preservation Massachusetts’s Paul E. Tsongas Award.

    Open House is Nov. 20 / 21, and well worth the visit.
