The ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NE/WE NSC) offered the first of what will be a free monthly West End lunch for seniors or anyone in need at Amy Lowell Apartments on October 7th.
NE/WE NSC staff and volunteers, supervised by head cook Maria Torres, prepared a healthful meal of salad, meatloaf, potatoes, vegetables, beverages, and cookies, the latter of which were donated by J. Pace and Son in the West End.
Maria Stella Gulla, Director, addressed the crowd of nearly six dozen seniors and other folks from the neighbrohood: “I know what it is like to feel invisible and that what you are going through doesn’t matter. You will never feel that way with our center and our staff and volunteers. We welcome you to this lunch and any of the programs that we offer at our center.”
One of the guests commented, “The food was so delicious and fresh. I am a very picky eater and will be back. Thank you!” City Councilor Josh Zakim dropped in with his Neighborhood Liaison Mohona Siddique to visit with his constituents and share in this special day. Thank you, Councilor Zakim!
The next lunch is scheduled at Amy Lowell Apartments on Wednesday, November 4th, at 1:00PM, and will have an autumn theme. Please call the NE/WE NSC directly at 617-523-8125 to reserve your spot. New clients must sign up to obtain free membership with ABCD.
