News from the office of State Senator Anthony Petruccelli:
As is written in the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the political year begins on the first Wednesday of January with Inaugural ceremonies for both the House of Representatives and the Senate. On Wednesday, January 7, 2015, both legislative branches were sworn in for the 189th General Court session where both bodies elected their leading members; Senate President Stanley C. Rosenberg and Speaker Robert A. DeLeo. Locally, Senator Anthony Petruccelli (D-East Boston) was sworn in to represent the people of the First Suffolk and Middlesex District along with State Representative Aaron Michlewitz of the North End, who was sworn into the House of Representatives representing the 3rd Suffolk District.
“I am both honored and humbled to be sworn into my fifth term in the Senate. I would like to thank the people of the First Suffolk and Middlesex District for allowing me to continue to serve as your voice in the Senate. As we open the 2015-2016 legislative session, I am eager to begin working with new leadership in both the Legislative and Executive branches in order to continue to provide my constituents with secure resources and an effective political process,” said Senator Anthony Petruccelli (D- East Boston).
