Hundreds of kids of all ages celebrated Columbus Day at the namesake waterfront park, thanks to the efforts of the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park. The scene included a very fun (and just the right length) parade around the park with community leaders and lots (and lots) of families.) FOCCP President Joanne Hayes-Rines introduced Italian Consul General Giuseppe Pastorelli, State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, Eliot School Principal Traci Walker Griffith and Boston’s Commissioner of Veterans’ Services, Francisco Urena.
Young and old were delighted by Magician Peter O’Malley, Jenny the Juggler, Big Joe the Storyteller and the Tanglewood Marionettes. Joining in the fun was NEMPAC with face painting and the instrument zoo. The New England Aquarium also ran a table with a touch and learn animal traveling exhibit. Topping off the day was a concluding concert by Cornell University’s “Last Call” performing a Capella. Sponsors for this event include Al Dente, Benevento’s, Boston Pushcart, CL Waterfront Properties and Tia’s Restaurant.
