City Hall Installs New “Private Way” Signs Around Commercial Wharf West Lot

As an update to “Beware the Parking Trap at Commercial Wharf West,” and the subsequent Globe Watch investigation, the Boston Transportation Department has installed two new “Private Way” signs on either end of the block. To date, there has been no action by the lot owner or towing company to improve signage within the parking lot.

Working with BTD on the situation is City Councilor Sal LaMattina, who said in a phone conversation, “These signs should help warn drivers before they enter the lot. It is a private lot so there is not much the City can do inside the lot on private property.” LaMattina also said he was almost towed from this exact lot when he was dropping a cake off at the adjacent elderly housing.
