Tuesday’s Brief: Best Restaurant Openings in 2019, Tree Lightings, Traffic Congestion Discussion, Sporting Success, North End Snow Globe

5:30PM Winter Wonderland Tree Lighting at Nazzaro Center. Everyone is welcome at the Christmas Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting to be held at the Nazzaro Community Center. Santa will be on hand for the kids with special gifts, hot chocolate and caroling, see additional details here.

6:00PM Globe Spotlight Team on Traffic Congestion at 1 Faneuil Hall Square. The Boston Globe’s Spotlight Team delved into this subject in a three-part series, “Seeing Red,” which began November 19th. Come to a follow-up discussion event that includes Globe reporters who worked on the series, as well as local transportation specialists, see additional details here.

6:00PM Sporting Success: Before, During and After at Vilna Shul. Celebrate Chanukah and join the Vilna Shul for their signature Happy Hour on the Hill networking event featuring a panel discussion on the “Sporting Success: Before, During and After”, see additional details here.

7:30PM Tree Lighting at Faneuil Hall. Faneuil Hall Marketplace’s Holiday Tree will be officially lit at 7:30pm, and will be broadcast live on WBZ-TV/CBS Boston. The 65-foot, 35-foot wide Norway Spruce from Wallkill, NY will be illuminated with thousands of blinking lights that will be synchronized to music, marking the start of Blink! at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

3:00PM Kids’ LEGO Club. Drop by the North End Library after school to build whatever you can imagine using LEGOs and DUPLOs.

6:00PM Toys for Tots Fundraiser. Join The Gilardi Group, a division of Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty, and the Divine Design Center at the DIVINE Design Center at 2 Battery Wharf for a Toys for Tots Party, see additional details here.

Thursday, December 5

12:30PM Working Session: home rule petition to establish an investor and commercial properties transfer fee. Members of the public are cordially invited to attend, but there will be no public comment period at a working sessions regarding a home rule petition authorizing the City of Boston to establish an investor and commercial properties transfer fee, see additional details here.

5:00PM North End Neighborhood Night. North Street Grille will, once again, be hosting “Neighborhood Night” on the first Thursday of each month with 50% of sales going to support North End Neighborhood nonprofit agency programs, see additional information here.

6:00PM Boston Common Tree Lighting. Join Mayor Martin J. Walsh and guests from the Province of Nova Scotia to celebrate the 78th Annual Tree Lighting on Boston Common. The 45-foot white spruce tree was donated by Desmond Waithe and Corina Saunders of Chance Harbour, Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

6:00PM North End Public Safety Meeting. Stop by the Nazzaro Center for the North End Public Safety Meeting on the first Thursday of each month.

7:00PM Vauderville: Voice of the City. The West End Museum will be showing the documentary “Vaudeville: Voice of the City”. Exhibit curator Duane Lucia will share a documentary and short video clips portraying the art form and will lead a tour of “The Old Howard Theatre” exhibit, see additional details here.

7:30PM Chanukah: A Cappella Concert at Vilna Shul. Rock out with this holiday-inspired a cappella concert at the Vilna Shul featuring local college a cappella groups including Brandeis University’s Manginah, Northeastern University’s Distilled Harmony, Simmon Sirens, and Boston University’s Kol Echad, see additional details here.
