North Washington St. Bridge Construction Update July 14 – July 27

North Washington Street Bridge Replacement with Temporary Bridge

Below is the construction look ahead for the North Washington Street Bridge Replacement Project as provided by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).

Travel Impacts

  • Inbound: one lane available on weekdays off-peak, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Keany Sq. inbound: two lanes and all turn movements available overnight, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m.
  • Keany Sq. outbound: one lane and all turn movements available on weekdays off-peak, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Tudor Wharf walkway: occasional daytime closures with detour access via Water Street underpass

Night Work

Description: At Keany Square, test pit digging for a future drainage line will begin Monday, July 15 and is expected to be completed by July 27.

Work Hours: Overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.), Monday nights through Saturday mornings.

Paul Revere Park Playground

Description: Delivery and installation of new playground equipment will begin in Paul Revere Park.

Work Hours: Daytime (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.) on weekdays.

Temporary Bridge Construction

Description: Continued construction of the temporary vehicle, pedestrian, and utility bridges including bridge bents, abutments, and utilities.

Work Hours: Daytime (6 a.m. – 4 p.m.) on weekdays and Saturday, July 20.

Utility Installations & Upgrades

Description: Continued installation of a waterline by J.F. White and a gas pipe by National Grid at Keany Square.

Work Hours: Daytime (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.) on weekdays.
