10:00AM Children’s Winter Festival. Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will be bringing the annual Children’s Winter Festival to Boston Common in partnership with the Highland Street Foundation during school vacation week, see additional details here.

10:30AM Mayor Walsh to Announce New Funding for Affordable Housing. Join Mayor Walsh, representative from the Department of Neighborhood Development, Neighborhood Housing Trust Fund and the Community Preservation Committee at Knights of Columbus Hall at 41 North Margin Street to hear about new funding for affordable housing projects across the city, see additional details here.

5:45PM A Revolutionary Harbor: Boston’s Maritime Underground Railroad. Join the National Park Service and Boston Harbor Now in the second of three winter lectures exploring our Revolutionary Harbor, see additional details here.

6:30PM Marketplace Movie Nights: Coco. Faneuil Hall Marketplace is hosting “Marketplace Movie Nights” for February school vacation week. There will be four free movies starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Lower Rotunda of the Quincy Market building. Wednesday’s movie is Coco.

6:30PM Adult Book Discussion Club: A Man Called Ove. February’s book is Fredrik Backman’s 2008 novel A Man Called Ove, a tale about the unlikely friendship that develops between a solitary, curmudgeonly older man and the gregarious young family that moves in next door, see additional details here.

Cambridge Coffee Shop Will Expand to Boston’s West End

Bourbon Coffee will open its second shop, taking over the Boston Common Coffee Co. on Canal Street near North Station. The Cambridge cafe sources direct trade coffee beans from Rwanada and also has location in Washington, DC. Read more on Eater Boston.

10:30AM Seniors Connect: “Mid-August Lunch” Film Screening. Stop by the North End Library and enjoy a screening of Gianni Di Gregorio’s 2008 film Mid-August Lunch (Pranzo di ferragosto). This program is in partnership with Boston’s Jewish cultural center, the Vilna Shul. Free, light refreshments will be served, see additional details here.

1:00PM Exploring Home at the Paul Revere House.
What makes a house a home? Come explore some materials, techniques, and designs used in three centuries of construction in Boston. Facilitated by a staff member, families will have a chance to see some historic building materials up close and learn about the architecture found in and around the Paul Revere House.

9:30AM EchoKids Music Concert & Workshop at the North End Library. Want to introduce your child to the language of music? EchoKids will be hosting an educational workshop for children at the North End Library! During this event, children will learn music fundamentals such as rhythmic counting and melodies through participation in the performance of their favorite songs!

11:00AM Kid’s Guide to Paul Revere Visit at the North End Library.The Paul Revere House is redesigning its Kids Guide to the Paul Revere House, and we want your help! Please join them for a free visit to the museum for the whole family and travel through time with the help of Copper the cat. After your visit, give your feedback on what you liked and didn’t like about the Kids Guide by talking with a museum educator. Space is limited. Please call the Library to register (617) 227-8135.

1:00 Friday Film Series: Blacklisted. Join the North End Library for their Friday film series featuring Hollywood directors and writers before and after the blacklist. This week’s film is The Servant, see additional details here.

1:00PM Oral Health Workshop. Join the ABCD North End / West End Neighborhood Service Center for their first in a series of workshops from the Office of Oral Health at Boston Public Health Commission. Workshop is free and a hot lunch will be served, see additional details here.
