The USS Constitution celebrated the U.S. Navy’s 243rd birthday on Friday, October 19. The ship traveled from the Charlestown Navy Yard to Fort Independence on Castle Island where she fired a 21-gun salute. The USS Constitution then returned to the Navy Yard, firing an additional 17-gun salute as she passed the U.S. Coast Guard Station, formerly the Edmund Hartt Shipyard where the Constitution was built.
