City Councilor Lydia Edwards ran the Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon this past weekend to raise funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Lydia Edwards is the City Councilor for District One, representing the North End, East Boston and Charlestown. She dedicated her run to a close friend, Ms. Turid Steffensen, who passed away last year, as well as to all those who have lost their battle with cancer.
Nearly 9,000 runners participated in the race this year, presented by Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The 13.1 mile race began in Franklin Park and traveled along the Emerald Necklace, before turning at the halfway point and circling back to White Stadium.
