The North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is thrilled to announce a very special fundraising event on Friday, September 28, at 7 p.m. to introduce the 2018-19 NEMPAC Performance Season!

This inaugural concert taking place at the North Bennet Street School, Windgate Hall, will be part of a delightful evening that will feature Italian-born, world-renowned cellist Dr. Francesco Mastromatteo and Boston-based acclaimed pianist Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova, along a pre-concert reception that will surely inspire you.

“This special fundraising evening is the perfect opening for our exciting 2018-19 Performance Season and we are excited to bring top-notch performers to the North End of Boston,” – Sherri Snow, Executive Director at NEMPAC

Francesco and Christina will perform an exhilarating program with works by Italian, Argentinian and Polish Composers that include Piazola’s Grand Tango, Piatti’s Rimembranze del Trovadore di Verdi, and Chopin’s passionate Sonata for Piano and Cello.

Francesco, who is returning to NEMPAC as a guest artist, regularly performs throughout Italy and the USA. He won first prize in the National Cello Competition “G. Turci” in Ravenna, and first prize as a duo with pianist Tommaso Cogato in the International Competition “Città di Padova”. He has also collaborated with pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi on a CD recording of Grieg’s Cello Sonata, which can be heard on Centaur Records.

Christina, who is the Artistic Director of NEMPAC’s Professional Series, has premiered over fifty works by living composers and has performed both solo and collaborative new works in Boston and internationally, appearing in recitals with many established, award-winning artists. She can be heard in CD recordings on New World Records, ARS Produktion and MSR Classics.

All proceeds from this event will benefit NEMPAC’s mission to enrich Boston’s North End and neighboring communities by providing accessible, quality music education and performing arts programming.
