Knockout North End, a boxing and fitness studio offering group exercise, personal training options, and an intense jump rope workout is opening at 89 Salem Street in early May.
The approximately 2,000 square foot space will have a 12×12 foot boxing ring, boxing bags hung from custom-made steel beams, strength training equipment and boot camp gear.
Classes will be 45 – 60 minutes and vary from amateur to pro. You can sign up for the intense “knockout” class with heavy bag intervals, use kettle balls and other strengthening equipment in KO bootcamp, or jump rope in the KO jump class.
Knockout North End is the second North End fitness venture by owner and instructor Melina DiPaola, who opened the indoor cycling studio Ride North End at 420 Commercial Street in July 2015.
“Fitness is not only a passion of mine, but of so many Bostonians, and it’s been especially exciting to be a key part of the wellness revolution in my home neighborhood of the North End. We have so much to offer here from spin to yoga to running, and boxing is the perfect complement to round out that exercise mix.” – Knockout North End owner Melina DiPaola.
Classes will be priced as follows: a single class for $28, monthly memberships for $170, and packages of 5 or 10 classes for $140 and $270, respectively. There is currently a special “Founding Member” rate available that is three months at $130 per month, and you can keep this special rate for as long as your membership remains active. Private instruction will also be available.
