Governor Charlie Baker Joins Opening of St. Anthony’s Feast [Photos]

Opening ceremonies at the 2017 St. Anthony’s Feast are a spectacle for thousands of devotees of the patron saint. Joining the ceremony this year was Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker who welcomed the crowd on Endicott Street.

Always on the last weekend in August, the gold-adorned statue of San Antonio emerged to the faithful under the glory of confetti and streamers. A blessing by Fr. Antonio of St. Leonard Church was followed by a short procession before the statue was placed in its feast chapel for the weekend festivities. During the opening nights of the feast, several bands marched through the streets while friends and families gathered for the annual celebration.

The “Feast of all Feasts” is organized by San Antonio di Padova da Montefalcione, Inc., also known as the St. Anthony’s Club.
