Boston’s premiere wine event series returns this winter with intimate winemaker-hosted dinners, seminars, receptions, and brunches from Boston Wine Festival Founder and Chef Daniel Bruce
Founder Daniel Bruce continues the celebrated tradition of presenting exceptional wine events and dinners with the 28th Annual Boston Wine Festival. The nation’s longest-running wine and food festival kicks off on January 13, 2017 with a special Grand Opening Reception and continues through March 31, 2017 featuring an all-star lineup of intimate winemaker-hosted dinners, seminars, thematic receptions, and celebratory brunches at the iconic Boston Harbor Hotel.
“The Boston Wine Festival is a special time of year for me, our culinary team, and the Boston Harbor Hotel staff,” says Chef Bruce. “Each year I strive to create a new and exciting experience at the Boston Wine Festival to intrigue, surprise, and delight guests whether it’s their first time at the festival or their 28th. The festival is all about celebrating these incredible winemakers from around the globe and I’m honored to be a part of what has become such a wonderful tradition in Boston for three decades.”
Chef Bruce welcomes both renowned and up-and-coming winemakers from around the world to the Boston Harbor Hotel this year, giving guests an intimate look at the world of winemaking. Boston Wine Festival favorites including Meritage Madness (January 25) and Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance (February 11) return for the 2017 festival, along with intimate dinners featuring world-renowned wineries including Opus One (March 1) and Trimbach (March 2).
New festival guests join the all-star lineup, including ROCO Winery (February 9) featuring the newest venture from Argyle Winery’s Rollin Sole, and Blackbird Vineyards (February 23) hosted by Dylan York, the festival’s youngest winemaker. For the first time, The Boston Wine Festival will also host numerous winemakers from South Africa during a week of events dedicated to the region inspired by Chef Bruce’s recent travels. The week kicks off with a special Reception (March 22) featuring South African cuisine and many wines from the world’s longest wine route of over 500 miles. South African winemakers Ken Forrester and Martin Meinert join Chef Bruce on March 23 for their inaugural dinner at the festival. Other notable dinners include: Cakebread Cellars (February 16), Benovia Winery (March 17), and Marques De Vargas (March 30).
Each multi-course dinner is designed to perfectly complement the wine, heightening the flavor profiles and overall experience. Chef Bruce’s approach to menu creation highlights his unique philosophy of tasting the wines first then developing the menu, based on the flavor profiles. Boston Harbor Hotel’s vineyard-to-table Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar has always embraced this philosophy and celebrated the dynamic relationship between chef and winemaker.
