City council eyes ban on plastic bags. Garbage is always a topic of discussion in the neighborhood, so many of you may be pleased that the Boston City Council is planning to “accelerate conservation” on banning plastic shopping bags. 3. The agenda of events for today:
8:30am Boston Small Business Talk at Faneuil Hall Marketplace Rotunda. ‘Talks in the Rotunda’ with Dr. Karilyn Crockett, Director of Economic Policy and Research for the City of Boston. Crockett will be speaking about the City of Boston’s plan for supporting small business.
10:00am Free Gentle Yoga at Christopher Columbus Park. Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series offers free fitness programming in Boston Parks this summer. The Fitness Series will activate Boston parks while increasing opportunities for physical activity across Boston’s neighborhoods.
12:30pm Walk the Labyrinth at Armenian Heritage Park. For first time walkers, join us for a brief introduction to walking a labyrinth at 12:20pm (you may also walk the labyrinth at any time).
5:30pm Blitz Chess Tournaments at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. We’re bringing a little friendly competition to the chess area at South Market. Sign up to compete in a series of “blitz” tournaments, and vie for bragging rights– and prizes provided by our Faneuil Hall Marketplace merchants!
5:30pm Greenway Summer Fitness: Yoga Hub Boston, Happy Hour Yoga – Parcel 8. The Rose Kennedy Greenway has scheduled the following events to last through the summer, dubbed “North End Activation” with all types of fitness events: Happy Hour Yoga: Try this healthy way to celebrate the end of your work day: good-vibes and vinyasa yoga on the grass on The Greenway.
6:00pm Greenway Summer Fitness: Next Level Fitness & Wellness Training – Parcel 10. The Rose Kennedy Greenway has scheduled the following events to last through the summer, dubbed “North End Activation” with all types of fitness events. At the corner of Cross Street and Hanover Street, more information.
7:00pm North End Movie Night at The Gassy featuring “Charlotte’s Web” (DeFilippo Playground). All are welcome to this free event, come early with your chairs and towels to have Regina Pizza at 7:00 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk (~8pm). Rain location: Nazzaro Gymnasium.
